John Will Riggs was born in Morrilton, AR on September 12, 1926. He was the seventh of the nine children of Alan Riggs and Amanda-Holcomb Riggs; he would survive all of his siblings. John also survived two wives. Roy Jean Kennemer-Riggs was the wife of his young life and Helen Crummy-Riggs, the wife of his later years. John is survived his son Lynn Riggs and is survived by his daughter Susan Riggs-Watson of Higden, Arkansas. John has four grandchildren; Lisa Gilmore, Wendy Prescher, John R. Watson, and Karen Lamey. In addition, John has seven great-grandchildren; Garrett, Hayden, Baily, John-David, Keelie, Dorian, and Cadet Elizabeth Lamey of the United States Air Force Academy.

John was a man of deep faith and a member of the Quitman United Methodist Church. John served 10 years in the United States Navy, serving in combat in both World War II and the Korean Conflict. John was an active member of the Holland Masonic Lodge #158 in Quitman, Arkansas and the Quitman VFW Post 7514. John was also an avid fisherman. John Will Riggs was a fierce patriot, a devout Christian, a loyal family man and an extraordinary friend to all. John will be dearly missed.

Visitation services will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. 11:30 a.m.., at the Quitman United Methodist Church in Quitman, Arkansas, funeral services with military honors will follow at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be at Higden McLehaney Cemetery.
