Dorothy Jean Paden

of Mountain Home, AR

June 22, 1930 - February 21, 2022

Dorothy Jean Paden, age 91, of Mountain Home, Arkansas passed away Monday February 21, 2022 in Mountain Home.

Dorothy was born June 22, 1930 in Kansas City, Missouri to the late Hiram and Lillian (Sullivan) Shaddox.

Dorothy Paden was a Christian mother and loving wife of 68 years. She dedicated her life to the Lord Jesus Christ, her husband "Dub", and her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. One of her sayings was "if you know better, you should do better".

Her pride and joy outside the family were her 2nd grade kids she taught at Yellville-Summit schools all her working years. She kept track of all of her students for years and continued to follow them in their activities and sports. She focused on children's need and this is why we encourage donations for children's homes which support a Christian based home to raise children with no parents or poor home situations.

Dorothy graduated high school from Western Grove, attended Arkansas Tech University and was homecoming queen in 1954, graduating with a Bachelors degree in elementary education. She moved to Yellville in 1961 with her husband Robert to open a drugstore on the square, which began a new phase of life.

The Yellville community accepted them and they both treasured this over the years. Dorothy had deep friendships with many that lasted over her lifetime. She was raised in Western Grove, but she considered Yellville her true and lasting home. Her friendships follow her all the days of her life.

Her life was a symbol of encouragement for others, since her days on earth were spent for other's benefit. Holding faith in God's word and trust in others, she encouraged all to be their very best. No matter your station in life, excel and help others.

Dorothy was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ; she was teacher of the year in 1989 at Yellville-Summit school; known for her infamous brownies and lemonade and corn bread sticks; she enjoyed a game of kickball up to the age of 85.

Dorothy Paden was humble and kind, but also a game changer for a lot of people. If you knew her, you are truly blessed. The family and the entire community will deeply miss her influence and smile.

Dorothy is survived by her husband Robert "Dub" Paden of Mountain Home; her sons: Mark (Melanie) Paden, Tim (Connie) Paden, Matt (Michele) Paden all of Mountain Home; Janet Paden of Yellville; two brothers: Jim (Mary Lou) Shaddox of Van Buren, Missouri; Curt (Reba) Shaddox of Harrison, Arkansas; her sister-in-law Jeanette Shaddox of Harrison, Arkansas; seven grandchildren: Kyle Parkinson, Kacy (Parkinson) Termini, Callie (Paden) Hendricks, Michael Paden, Lucas Paden, Ashlyn Paden, McKenzie Paden, and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Betty Cowell, and two brothers: Bob Shaddox, and Bill Shaddox.
