Jerry Don Starkey died at home surrounded by his family, Monday February 7th at the age of 85.

He was an AR National Guard Veteran and a Golden Gloves Boxer. He was a welder at Alcoa Aluminum until his retirement. He was a devoted husband and proud father. Jerry was born January 16th 1937 in Conway AR, to Vic and Ann (Irby) Starkey. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Dennis Starkey.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sandra (McDaniel) Starkey; his children Dondra Simpson, Hugh Starkey (Gina), Faith Speight (Mark), Hope Sur (Pierre), and 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.


As we grieve with unbelievable sadness, we must remember Earth is only temporary and Heaven is eternity. We couldn't imagine a more loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather. He was full of character and the most ornery man we knew. He created an amazing legacy that lives on in all of us.

Visitation will be from 5pm to 7pm Thursday, February 10th at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Conway, AR with a celebration service at 7pm.
