Mark Widner

Mark Widner, age 64, of Harrison, Arkansas, died Friday, January 7, 2022, at his home in Omaha, Arkansas. He was born April 20, 1957, in Harrison, the son of Jimmy and Ina Mae (Andrews) Widner. He was a graduate of the Class of 1975 from Harrison High School, graduated from Twin Lakes Vo-Tech School in 1976, and graduated from North Arkansas College in 1999 with an Associate in Applied Science. He worked for the Arkansas State Highway Department for 37 years, retiring in 2016 as Equipment Maintenance Supervisor. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Deborah Widner.

Mark was a member of the Omaha Church of Christ. He was a lifetime resident of Boone County. He served as a Boone County Democratic Committeeman for several years, was on the State Democrat Committee, as well as served as chairman of the Boone County Election Commission. He was a past member of the Boone County Cattleman's Association, Arkansas Hereford Association, Arkansas Fair Association, and served as past president of the State Highway Employee Retirement System. Mark was a lifetime member of the National Hereford Association, served several years as the president of the Farmer's Coop in Harrison, and was the first president of the present-day Boone County Fair. He enjoyed farming, drag racing, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Mark is survived by his loving wife of forty-two years, Jeanne Widner, of the home; his son, Luke Widner and his wife Brittney, of Omaha; his daughter, Beth Looper and her husband Jim, of Fayetteville; his brother, James Widner and his wife Ida, of Harrison; his nephew, Matthew Widner and his wife Lisa, of Omaha, and his niece, Laura Ragland, of Harrison; his six grandchildren, Lily Kate, Dalton, Easton, Justice, Oliver, and Sylvia; a "special brother", Levi Phillips; and a host of other relatives and friends throughout the community who will dearly miss him.

Open visitation was Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home.

The funeral service was Thursday, January 13, 2022, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home, with Minister Mark Arnold and Minister Trey Sullins officiating. Masks are required to be worn at the service.

Burial was in Gass Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Wayne Trammell, Charlie Trammell, Bill Phifer, Wes Phifer, John Erwin, and Rick Hutcheson.

Honorary pallbearers were Rick Thomason, Rick Widner, John Roberts, Mike Roberts, Rex Holt, Keith Maupin, and Eddie Mark Edwards.
