William A. Doerr, age 88, of Norfork, AR passed away on January 10, 2022. He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on December 22, 1933 in a taxi on the way to the hospital. Bill's father George Doerr was a machinist at A.O. Smith in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and his mother Lillian, was a homemaker. As an adolescent, Bill was very involved with St. Ann's Catholic Church in Milwaukee, serving as an altar boy. He graduated from Pius XI High School in Milwaukee in 1953.

In 1954, Bill enlisted in the U.S. Army. While in the Army, he responded to an ad in the Stars and Stripes announcing auditions for the Army band. Bill, a trombonist, was selected from many musicians to join the band of the 17th Infantry Regiment in Korea, part of the 7th Infantry Division responsible for defending the line along the demilitarized zone. He was honorably discharged after 3 years of service.

Bill worked with Wisconsin Bell/AT&T for more than 40 years starting as a cable splicer and moving up to various management positions before retiring in 1994. It was at Wisconsin Bell that Bill met the love of his life, Rhoda Swanson (Doerr). She was a telephone operator with the company. They were married at St. Agnes Church in Milwaukee Wisconsin on June 17, 1961. They were married for 58 years.

In 1995, Bill and Rhoda moved to Jordan, Arkansas which culminated in almost 30 years of volunteering within the community and building some of the most important friendships of their lives. Bill was active in the Knights of Columbus at St. Peter the Fisherman Church. He was Grand Knight from 1998 2000 and the Faithful Navigator of the 4th Degree Assembly from 2010-2012. He participated on several committees at the church. Most notably, he led a committee overseeing the development and construction of an addition to the church complex. Bill also served as Vice President of the Brunner Hill Water Board for 10 years.

He will be forever missed and is survived by his daughter Robin from Denver, Colorado and his son David, daughter-in-law Renia and granddaughter Milena, of Bonn, Germany. He is also survived by his sister Mary Moyle of Venice, Florida.

A Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, January 15, 2022 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church with Reverend Norbert Rappold officiating. There will be a luncheon following the service. Burial will be private.
