Carmon Jean Varner, age 95, of Vilonia, Arkansas, left this Earth for his heavenly home on November 2, 2021. He was born November 1, 1926, near Mt. Vernon, Arkansas, to Fred and Ina Sweeten Varner. He is preceded in death by his two sisters, Vernell Varner Seats Anderson of Muncie, Indiana and by his twin sister, Odene Varner Millsaps of Romance. Odene passed on November 2, 2008. As twins their days were ordained to leave this Earth on the same date.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Norma Jane Casey Varner. She was his most beloved caregiver for several years in his battle with Alzheimer's. There are no adequate words to express her kindness, patience, and tender care for Carmon. She faced numerous challenges of every kind with love, wit, and God's grace.

Survivors include one son, Steven Varner (Karen) of Vilonia; three daughters, Janice Housley (Larry) of Mabelvale, Beverly Fitzpatrick (Brent) of Maumelle, Betty Freeman (Steve) of Ovilla, Texas; nine grandchildren, Simon Branton-Housley (Mary) of Fort Collins, Colorado, Elizabeth Housley (Andrew Gall) of Seattle, Eric Varner (Blair) of North Little Rock, Katie Weeks (Nathan) of Derby, Kansas, Tyler Fitzpatrick of Maumelle, Britney Fitzpatrick of Fayetteville, Casey Bain (Parker) of Denver, Colorado, Samuel Freeman (Casey Glynn) of Lewisville, Texas and Ara Freeman of Lewisville, Texas; six great-grandchildren, Daphne, Linden, Mason, McKinley, Eliana and Everly Grace.

He served two assignments in the army, at the end of WWII and the Korean conflict. He retired from A T & T Teletype in Little Rock. In his earlier adult life, he farmed at his home in the Red Hill Community near Romance. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Vilonia for over 50 years. Carmon enjoyed camping at the JFK campground on the Little Red River as well as spending time in Mountain View, gardening, and spending time with his family.

A special thanks to the angelic caregivers and staff at Conway Hospice Care especially Carol, Sarah, Dawn, Hannah, Brian and Bill. Their support for our mother and daddy is so appreciated. Thank you also to, Kim Millsaps for her valued assistance in his early care.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at the Romance Cemetery in Romance. Pallbearers will be the grandsons, Brent Fitzpatrick and Steve Freeman. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Housley, Floyd Quesnel, Randell Casey and Russell Casey. All family and friends are welcome to attend. All of us will greatly miss him, but because of Jesus' death and resurrection we will be reunited with him in heaven.
