William ''Bill'' Hafford, 84, of Jonesboro, passed away Saturday, October 16, 2021, at St. Bernards Hospital. He was born February 28, 1937, in Paragould, AR where he grew up and attended Paragould High School.
He was drafted into the U.S. Army. After serving his country, he went to barber school in Memphis, TN graduating in August of 1962. He then moved to Oxford, MS. He returned to Paragould and started as a barber at the Scalp Shop in the Carl R. Reng Center at ASU, later opening Bill's Barber Shop on Johnson Avenue in Jonesboro where he worked for over 54 years until retirement. He enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family. He was of the Baptist belief and enjoyed singing solos in church and praising his Savior.
Bill was preceded in death by his father, Jesse Hafford; mother, Dorothy (Doe) Howard, and stepfather, Worlick Howard.
Those left behind to cherish Bill's wonderful memories include, the love of his life of 63 years, Sharon (Ray) Hafford; a son, William Troy (Paula) Hafford Jr; a daughter, Linda (Doug) Bishop; two grandchildren, Jesse Bishop (Lauren Suiter) and Sharon (Trey) Griffin; and three great-grandchildren, Carson Bishop, Raymond Griffin, and Ryder Griffin.
Chapel services will be 10 am Friday at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, 1900 West Washington Avenue in Jonesboro with Joey Rupard and Thomas Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery in Paragould.
Visitation will be Thursday evening at the funeral home from 5 pm to 7 pm.
