Mrs. Rosa Maria Mallari Hood, loving wife to William (Bill) , mother to Jan (wife Jobella), Sharmaine and James, step-mother to Samantha, Bethany and Christopher, grandmother to Courtney Mae, Callix John, Caleigh Blythe, Andrew, Aston, Luna and Leo, passed from her earthly home on Monday October 11, 2021 in her home holding her husband's hand.

Rosa was born on October 4, 1958 to Fortunado and Lolita Mallari in Manilla Philippines. Preceding her in death are her mother and father. Surviving are her husband, children, step-children, grandchildren, brother Edgar, sister Millet, sister Menchie, sister Judith and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Rosa received a Master of Arts in Education in May of 2010 from Jose Rizal University in Mandaluyong City, Philippines. This was a big accomplishment for her and she was very proud to have received this degree with honors. After receiving her Masters degree she was a professor of English at Arellano University in Manilla Philippines. In 2011 she published a paper entitled A Proposed Remedial Program in Reading for Pupils at Risk of Dyslexia.

Rosa married William Hood on July 6, 2013 in Chicago Illinois. They enjoyed making applesauce, canning various fruits and vegetables, baking, traveling around the country and watching the K.C Chiefs play football. You would find her wearing all K.C Chiefs clothes and wrapped in a K.C Chiefs blanket. Rosa enjoyed cooking and making sure any guests in her home were well fed. Her egg rolls were very well known among her church and would often bake up to 75 egg rolls to share with her church members.

Rosa loved being a wife. Having the responsibility of ironing and cleaning her home was a dream come true. She loved cooking for her family and having a home that welcomed friends and guests at any time. She wanted her home to look perfect.

Her children, who reside in the Philippines, Jan, James and Sharmaine were one of the biggest joys of her life. She video chatted several times a week with them to keep up their lives. She enjoyed knowing every detail of their daily lives. Her dream was to get back to the Philippines to see them.

Rosa was a member of the Christian Church of Mountain Home. She was baptized on October 13, 2016. This was a proud moment for her and she lived her life according to God's word in everything she did.

Rosa fought a long 7 year battle with cancer. Her faith in God was stronger than any fear she faced. Her belief was to live life reflecting faith in God. There is nothing to fear, pray, be strong and trust God's word.
