Jeanne McDaniel passed away September 22, 2021, at the age of 93. She was predeceased by her husband, Colonel Ernest Lee McDaniel, and their son, James Lee McDaniel. She is survived by her daughter, Betsy McDaniel and her husband Philippe Briandet, of Washington, DC, and Jeanne's grandson, Benjamin McDaniel Briandet, his wife Deborah and their son Michael, of San Francisco.
Jeanne was born in Memphis and raised in Lonoke, where she was an honor graduate of Lonoke High School. She attended Lindenwood College and graduated from Ole Miss in 1949 with a Bachelor of Business Administration.
Before her marriage, she was employed by the TVA in Chattanooga and the FBI in Little Rock. After Col. McDaniel's death in 1967, she worked in the Arkansas House of Representatives and her family's abstract business in Lonoke.
Her many volunteer activities included the USO, Fort Roots Gray Ladies, Arkansas Arts Center, Old State House, St. Vincent Auxiliary and UALR.
She was also a member and past president of her DAR Chapter, the Arkansas Division of the UDC and Arkansas Pioneers.
She volunteered during President Clinton's administration in the White House Office of Presidential Correspondence and, upon opening, at the Clinton Presidential Library and the Clinton School of Public Service, where she especially enjoyed getting to know the students.
Jeanne loved to travel internationally with The Arkansas Arts Center and other groups, often taking her daughter and grandson along, and traveled extensively with her son.
Graveside service will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, September 27, 2021 at Rest Hills Memorial Park.
