"Beautiful things don't ask for attention." Ralph Leroy Eddings was born November 2, 1936, to Blane and Abbie Eddings, in Cave Creek, Arkansas. He left this earth at 5:04 p.m., Sunday, September 19, 2021, but went out with his boots on.

The best description of Ralph is a beautiful soul: he was the most gentle, unassuming, and loving person you could ever meet. He loved everyone and would do anything for anyone. He loved his family, his country, Arkansas, the Kansas City Royals/Chiefs, his dog Jack, books, and a good cheeseburger. But more than anything, he loved his wife, Mavis Lorene Eddings. He and Mavis were married for 64 years, and as the song says, "He Stopped Loving Her Today".

Ralph went straight from school to Ford Motor Company in Claycomo, Missouri, and worked there for over 35 years. I cannot recall a day that he ever complained or took a sick day. A good family friend coined the term for him, "He Was Built Ford Tough!" He loved working on American muscle cars and trucks. He always drove a Ford truck. Bright red was his color of preference, but Ralph also loved a good Chevy. Ralph was a Mason and a born-again Christian. He was a member of the former Blue Ridge Baptist Temple in Kansas City, Missouri.

Ralph's parents preceded him in death, as did his stepmother, Clydie Eddings; his brother, Gus Eddings; and his sisters, Maxine Campbell and Ruby Edney.

Ralph is survived by his wife, Mavis; his daughters, Arlene Hines (Chris Hines) of Kansas City, Missouri and Tammy Eddings (Chris Andrews) of Stilwell, Kansas; his beloved grandchildren, Joshua Hines (Kelle Marie), Meghan Hines, Raine Andrews, and Amelia Andrews; his great-granddaughter, Kaytlynn Hines; his great-grandsons, William Hines and Kyden Hines; his brothers and sisters, Joe Eddings, Florene Miele, Dee Dee Roland, Tobi Darlene Eddings Abbott, and Jimmie Eddings; and his sisters-in-law, Willie Jones, and Janice Pavelsek.


Family and friends gathered for a visitation at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home in Harrison on Saturday, September 25, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. Services followed at 11:00 a.m.

Burial was at Sand Hill Cemetery in Yardelle, AR.
