Dorothy R. Krick
of Mountain View, Arkansas

March 21, 1924 to September 9, 2021

Dorothy R. Krick, age 97, passed away at The Blossoms nursing home in Mountain View, Arkansas, on September 9, 2021. She was born in Walnutport, Pennsylvania, on March 21, 1924, to Mabel Irene Daubenspeck and William E. Greensweig. Her people were Pennsylvania Dutch and she kept her distinct Pennsylvania accent. Her mother and father separated when she was very young and her mother married Preston Valora. The family left Pennsylvania and headed west. Eventually the family made its way to Laramie, Wyoming. The local First Baptist Church was a mainstay in the family's life. She was the oldest of eight children, two sisters and five brothers. Her mother passed away when she was 15 years old. After a period of time, the large family was separated, and Dorothy went to foster care. Her foster mother located her father in Pennsylvania and she was sent there to live and finish high school. The nation was fighting World War II. Following high school graduation, Dorothy worked at the telephone and power companies and a small downtown diner in Allentown. She was working at the diner when M/Sgt. Robert W. Krick of the Army Air Corps, home from Europe and waiting to leave for an assignment in the Pacific, stopped in for a cup of coffee. The cup of coffee turned into several pots of coffee. Victory over Japan was declared and M/Sgt. Krick stayed in Allentown. Dorothy and her ''Bobby'' dated for three months, he proposed, she said yes, and they were married in 1945. They spent their honeymoon driving west to his new assignment, a place on the California desert by the name of Muroc AFB. (Muroc eventually became Edwards AFB.) Bobby and Dotty Krick had two children. A daughter, Beverly Ann, born in 1946 and a son, Robert W. Jr., in 1949. In 1957, M/Sgt. Krick retired from the Air Force and the family moved to a small community called North Edwards. Christmas was her absolute favorite time of the year. She gave her family Christmas memories to last a lifetime. She was a wonderful cook and baker and did beautiful crochet and embroidery handwork. She was employed at Edwards AFB in Pass and ID, and on the Rocket Site in Civil Engineering as Secretary to the Chief. After Bobby retired again, they enjoyed traveling with their motorhome, especially on the Pacific coast. In 1983, Bobby passed away. Dorothy was proud of how well she did on her own until she just couldn't do it anymore. In 2010, at her request, Dorothy's son and daughter packed her up and moved her to Arkansas to live with her daughter and son-in-law. Dorothy did really well until she began to lose her battle with Alzheimer's. In May 2021, She became a resident of The Blossoms nursing home in Mountain View where she lived until our Lord called her home.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Beverly and Ray Bolden; son and daughter-in-law Robert and Debra Krick; grandchildren Jon Bolden (Solange), Toni Fazio (Brian), Jessica Weidner, and Spencer Krick; great grandchildren Brandi Bolden, Brenda Sue Bolden, Molly Fazio, Emma Fazio, Aiden Weidner; great-great grandson Draven Broyles; brother Peter Valora and his wife Parceil.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Robert W. Krick Sr.; mother Mabel Valora; father William E. Green (Greensweig); step-father Preston Valora; brothers Preston Valora Jr., Harvey Valora, Frank Valora, Milton Valora; sisters Wilma Merica, and Mary Bohrn.
