Frances "Frankie" S. Langston

of Harrison, AR

March 27, 1931 - September 10, 2021

Frances S. Langston, age 90, died Friday, September 10, 2021, at Hillcrest Home in Harrison. Frankie was born on March 27, 1931, in DeWitt Arkansas, the daughter of Walter and Katie (Adams) Simpson

Frankie was born after the depression in the country near DeWitt where her parents were both from and attended a small country school. The family moved "into town" when she was at the age of 5, and then she graduated from DeWitt High School. After high school, she attended Baptist Hospital Nursing School in Little Rock where she particularly enjoyed working with premature babies. After graduation, she was hired as the head nurse in the premature nursery. During this time she was fixed up on a blind date with Bob Langston who was a freshman at UAMS. Per Frankie, "not love at first sight" but they shared much in common and were married a year later in the chapel at Immanuel Baptist Church.

After Dr. Bob finished at UAMS, he interned at Baptist Hospital and she retired to devote her time to start a family. After an extended internship, Dr. Bob enlisted in the Army and after basic training, he was sent to Fort Chaffee in Fort Smith. Dr. Bob had spent some summers with his parents vacationing at Pruitt so when his military service was finished they loaded up and headed for the Ozarks where they began life as a Family Doctors' family. She enjoyed being a member of the Hoe 'n Hope Garden Club and PEO. As a member of First Baptist Church, she enjoyed singing in the choir.

Frankie was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Robert Langston; her parents; and her brother, Stanley, and his wife Joyce Simpson.

Frankie is survived by her three sons, Bill (Pat) Langston, Dr. Jim Langston, and Dr. Tom (Cindy) Langston, all of Harrison; five grandchildren, Nicholas, Rebekah, Maggie, Jacob, and Jillian; two great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and other family and friends in Boone County.

The family has requested that memorials be made to the Hoe and Hope Garden Club, 2 Liberty Cove, Harrison, AR 72601.
