Delbert F. Creekmore, 81, of West Memphis, Arkansas, passed away on Saturday, August 28 at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
He was born May 7, 1940, in Elaine to Melvin Luster and Zela (Chappell) Creekmore. The family later moved to Hughes where Delbert graduated high school. Delbert was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and served during the Vietnam War as a heavy equipment operator. Delbert started his career working for Simplex in 1966 where he serviced time clocks and later fire alarms. He retired in 2013 after 47 years. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church West Memphis, where he sang in the choir and served as a deacon for 51 years.
Delbert is survived by his wife, Frances Goacher Creekmore, of the home, whom he was married to for 55 years. He is also survived by his children, Steven Creekmore (Debi) of Rogers, Kevin Creekmore (Shaila) of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and Stacy Creekmore Minga (Casey) of Cordova, Tennessee; brothers, Melvin Creekmore (Anna) of Jesup, Preston Creekmore (Velma) of Horn Lake, Mississippi, Walter Creekmore (Judy) of Collierville, Tennessee, and Dean Creekmore (Anne) of Marion, Arkansas; sister-in-law Susan Creekmore of Marion, Arkansas; his grandsons, Samuel and Tyler Creekmore of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and step-grandchildren, Eric Kaufman of Rogers and Sergeant Elizabeth Kaufman currently stationed with the U.S. Army in Germany; and many nieces and nephews. Delbert was proceeded in death by his parents; his twin brother Elbert Ray; and brothers Alfred Creekmore and Richard Creekmore.
Visitation will be held Thursday, September 2, 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and funeral services will be held on Friday, September 3 at 10:00 AM. Both will be held in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church of West Memphis, 200 N Missouri St, West Memphis, Arkanas.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to First Baptist Church, 200 N. Missouri St., West Memphis, Arkansas 72301.
