John David Smith, Sr 74, of Edgemont, AR, passed away Thursday, August 19, 2021 at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jonesboro, AR.

John was born in Earle, AR, the son of Leonard A Smith and Fannie Lee Smith (Taylor).

John was a skilled tradesman his whole life and loved to design and build using his God-given talent. John began his career as a Sheet Metal Worker at a very early age. Later, John and Pauline, purchased Hill Creek Marina and also opened Greers Ferry Heat & Air in Greers Ferry, AR

John enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, traveling and attending as many Ole Miss games as he could. John was a hard worker and had a heart of gold. John enjoyed many years of traveling with his family and he enjoyed eating really good seafood. John also enjoyed spending time with his many friends and truly loved his family. John's grandchildren were especially important to him. From attending the ballgames, to teaching them how to drive, to attending their high school events and later their graduations, he was very proud of each one of them. Although he had a VERY special place in his heart for his granddaughter's, watching and coaching baseball with his grandson, Tyler, was his very favorite thing to do. It was his favorite thing, because it gave him the ability to help him and a purpose. He wanted to matter to his family and he touched the hearts of each one.

John is survived by his wife Pauline, son John David Smith, Jr (Amy) Heber Springs, AR, Tina Montgomery (Kevin) Olive Branch, MS and Jennifer Dennis (Steve) Cabot, AR, brother, Leonard Smith (Betty) Clayton, NC, his grandchildren Logan Smith, Savannah Dennis and Tyler Dennis as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard A Smith and Fannie Lee Smith, his sisters Martha Adams, Ola Mae Russell and his brothers Frank Smith, Hamp Smith and Ralph Adams
