Ben Richard Chaney

Richard Chaney, age 74, of Harrison, passed away on Thursday, August 5, 2021, in Harrison. Richard was born February 9, 1947, in Harrison, the son of Norma Anne (Bell) and Albert Ben Chaney. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Richard was a member of Northvale Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sheryl Jean (Hudson) Chaney. They were married for 46 years. Richard was in the DECA program in high school, beginning a career with Sears, which took him to several moves around Missouri. After relocating back to Harrison, Richard worked for Clark & Eoff Furniture selling and installing floor covering. He was a brilliant salesman. In the family fireworks business, he created buy one, get two free and grab bags. In 1974, he changed careers and began selling commercial and residential real estate, where his character and honesty made him a well-respected realtor.

Ben Richard Chaney is survived by his wife of seven years, Bobbie Nell (Livingston) Chaney; his daughters and sons-in-law, Beth MacNeill of Harrison, Angela and Steve Sullins of Springdale, and Sidney and Darren Messick of Harrison.

Richard is also survived by his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy, Chance MacNeill of Denton, Texas, Caden MacNeill of Edmund, Oklahoma, Jake Sullins of Ketchum, Idaho, Haley Brumfield of Wahiawa, Hawaii, and Colton and Rylan Messick, both of Harrison. He adored his two great-granddaughters, Kate Brumfield and Presley Messick. Richard will be missed by many other dear friends and family members.



Visitation was Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at 1:00 PM, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home.

Service was Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at 2:00 PM, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home, with Bro. Bobby Brown officiating.

Interment was in Summers Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Chance MacNeill, Caden MacNeill, Jake Sullins, Eric Brumfield, Colton Messick, and Rylan Messick.

Honorary pallbearers were Hilton West, Roger Turner, David Talbert, David Wood, and the staff at Hillcrest Nursing Home.
