RC Rea

of Marsena, AR

June 30, 1939 - August 2, 2021

RC Rea, age 82 of Marsena, Arkansas passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Monday, August 2nd, 2021. He was born in Dongola, Arkansas on June 30th, 1939 to Audy Rea and Frankie Elizabeth Yancey Rea of Snowball and was the third of five children.

RC married Thelma Halsted on February 23rd, 1960. Their union was blessed with four children, Randell, Rita, Renita and Rhonda. RC worked for the Arkansas State Forestry Service for 30 years, often dressing up as Smokey the Bear for events in the community. He loved the outdoors, farming and riding his horses. He spent many years going to rodeos, teaching his children and grandchildren how to ride and taking his bride around to local dances as part of the Star Mountain Square Dancers. Most mornings he could be found at the coffee shop or at Harps visiting with friends. He was truly a devoted husband, loving father and loyal friend all throughout his life. RC, affectionately known as Poppy RC, loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Riding the four-wheeler, eating watermelon on the porch, gathering eggs from the chicken coop and taking them on rides down the road to see "the beach" were some of his and the kids' favorite activities. RC always made sure his family was taken care of and along with Thelma, always made sure everyone's bellies were full each time the kids visited.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Thelma of the home; his son, Randell and wife Lora of Russellville; daughters, Rita Bailey of Guy, Renita Morrison and husband Doug of Marshall and Rhonda Rea of Marshall; grandchildren, Julie Blair (Michael), Adam Redman (Briana), Katelyn Oliver (Jamie), Garrett Morrison, Chelsea Baker (Robert), Brandon Yates (Chelcie), Rianna Rea, Morgan Joiner (Michael), Danielle Rimmer (Aaron) and Wesley Bailey; fifteen great-grandchildren; and siblings, Lavina Griffin of Snowball and Joe Rea (Kathy) of Snowball.

RC is preceded in death by his parents, Audy and Frankie Rea; brother, Leon Rea; infant brother, Audy Wayne Rea; son-in-law, James Bailey; and brother-in-law, Tilmon Griffin.
