Mary Ruth Hood, 79, of Marion, Arkansas, passed away on Monday, July 26, 2021, at Regional One Health Medical Center, Memphis, Tennessee. She was born on October 23, 1941, in Leachville, Arkansas, to Buford Herrell and Pauline Harper Herrell.

Mary Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 39 years, Paul Hood; her sister, Patsy Sims; and her 2 brothers, Larry Herrell and Eddie Herrell. Those left behind to cherish her memory are her 2 sons, Michael Hood (Cheryl), and Robert Hood (Jennifer); her daughter, Paula Hood Davis; her 6 grandchildren, Allen Wood, John Philip Broadway, Ben Hood, Caroline Hood, Sarah Beth Hood, and Katherine Anne Hood; and her 2 brothers, Roger Herrell (Mattie) and Carril Herrell (Shirley).

Mary Ruth was a faithful member of Earle Baptist Church. She was known as a loving wife and mother, enjoyed gardening, and was the pillar of our family. She was our strong foundation and kept us together, as she would naturally take the role as everyone's caregiver whenever the need should arise. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Visitation will be held at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home, 201 N Pine Street, West Memphis, Arkansas, on Sunday, August 1, 2021, 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at Earle Baptist Church, 1515 2nd Street, Earle, Arkansas, on Monday, August 2, 2021, at 10:00 AM. Interment will be at Hood Family Cemetery, in Earle, Arkansas.
