Dr. Jim Daniel

of Sherwood, AR

January 2, 1937 - July 2, 2021

Dr. Jim Daniel, Senior care pastor at Little Rock First Church of the Nazarene, passed away Friday, July 2, 2021. He lived 84 ''fantabulous'' years! Growing up in Pickens Chapel, Arkansas, born to James C Daniel and Connie, he was known as Peewee up until he graduated high school.

Following in his grandfather's footsteps, he was called into the ministry at a young age and graduated from Bethany Nazarene College. Upon graduation, he attended Nazarene Theological Seminary in Kansas City, MO. He started his ministry in Little Rock, AR at Rosehill First Church of the Nazarene, and then moved to Texas where he pastored in Austin and San Antonio. God had plans for him to move to Oklahoma and lead a congregation in Henryetta and Trinity Church of the Nazarene in Oklahoma City. After leading the relocation at Trinity, God called him to Nall Avenue Nazarene Church in Kansas City where he faithfully served for 5 years. During these years, he received his doctorate from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX. God had yet another plan for he and Sue. This time it was upstate New York where they experienced a wonderful ministry in Owego, NY. They fell in love with the beautiful country side and people in their church and would have enjoyed retiring there, but God guided them back to Little Rock. Brockington Road Church of the Nazarene needed a leader who had the vision and experience to build a new church and Pastor Jim was the man for the job. He retired from full time ministry in November 2005 but didn't stay retired. This man of God, who's calling was to serve others and further the kingdom of God was not finished yet. He became the Senior Care Minister at Little Rock First Church of the Nazarene where he served faithfully until his death.

Jim leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Sue Daniel of 38 years; his daughters from his pre deceased wife Jean Daniel; Marsha Kasianzcuk from California and husband John, and daughter from Chicago, Karla Ortiz and life partner Joe; step son from Houston, Scott Mowry and wife Kim; three grandchildren - Shenna Richardson from Arizona, Danielle Miller and husband Skyler from Tulsa, and Colton Engleman and wife Kaitlynn from Iowa; two step grandchildren - Kayla and Hayden Mowry; 4 great grandchildren - Madison, Lexi and Malachi Miller, and Eva Engleman. Winning people to the Lord was Jim's passion! Church was his first home, and the Lord his first love. He led a life of integrity and would regularly say, ''If I can lay my head on the pillow at night and know that there is nothing between my Lord and I, then I'm at peace.'' He was a prayer warrior for the Lord and had a direct line to heaven. One had to be thoughtful with what you asked Pastor Jim to pray for, because God listened intently to his requests and they were usually answered in record time! We were not ready to have him go home to the Lord, but we trust the Lord's divine timing and have no doubt they are having a ''fantabulous'' time.
