Roger Allen DillionI am a Veteran.

of Searcy, AR

April 10, 1949 - July 6, 2021

Roger Allen Dillion, 72, died July 6, 2021 in Conway, AR. He was born on April 10, 1949 in DeWitt, AR to the late Robert and Audrey (Bell) Dillion. He was a graduate of DeWitt High School, class of 1967.

At DeWitt High School Roger played football as a running back and lettered in football and track and field. His love of sports continued for many years as he played intramural softball with Cabot Church of Christ, where he had many fond memories.

Roger was a current member of Westside Church of Christ in Searcy, AR, and previously a member of Cabot Church of Christ where he also served as a deacon. He participated in mission trips to Belarus and Mexico and was active in church camps, including Heritage Lake Bible Camp in Saskatchewan, Canada, and Camp Caudle in Arkansas. More recently, he enjoyed trips up the California coastline and fishing trips with his adult children.

He was a decorated combat veteran who served in the 431st Civil Affairs Army Reserve in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia in the first Gulf War in 1991 and in the Army National Guard in Iraq in 2008. In civilian life, he worked as an insurance broker, his favorite part of the insurance world being the connections he made and the conversations and interactions with clients.

His interests included socializing, fellowshipping, and encouraging others. He enjoyed trivia, reading about history - especially local history, keeping up with the St. Louis Cardinals, Bob Dylan's music, Westerns, and all things Clint Eastwood. Reading the Bible was an important daily practice for him.

Roger is survived by his family: Katherine Dillion, married from 1976-2015, and by his children Jacqueline, Grant, and David; his son-in-law Jason Wiens; his daughter-in-law Sarah (Jones) Dillion; his sister Carolyn (Dillion) Butts, and by brothers Larry and Dwayne Dillion.
