James "Jim" Wakefield Young, Sr.

of Little Rock, AR

July 31, 1938 - June 24, 2021

James (Jim) Wakefield Young Sr. passed away after lengthy battle with Alzheimer's on Thursday, June 24th at the age of 83 in his hometown of Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born July 31, 1938, in Nashville, Arkansas to parents Odell and James Young.

Jim attended Hendrix College and the University of Arkansas where he was a Sigma Nu. He then attended UAMS and graduated with a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree. While working as an intern at 7th & Main Drugs he met his future wife, Brenda Frazier who he proposed to a year later at the drive-in movie theatre. They then married in 1966.

Jim went on to work as a pharmacist for Clinton Pharmacy and eventually became the owner. For over 30 years Jim treated his customers like they were part of his family. He was available 7 days a week and often took phone calls after hours making sure all his customers were well taken care of.

Jim's love of outdoors was especially important to him. He spent a lot of time at several hunting clubs and a cabin he built with a friend in Clinton, AR. Later in life, he also enjoyed hunting in Murfreesboro where after 60+ years of hunting he was finally able to bag his trophy buck.

When he was not hunting, you could find him on the golf course with his many friends at Pleasant Valley Country Club. He loved going on golfing trips to Arizona & South Carolina with these friends every year.

He and his wife Brenda were blessed to have 54 years of marriage. Together they raised their son James Wakefield Young Jr. who shared the same birthday as his father. Jim was smitten with his 2 granddaughters. He loved reading to them, taking them for walks, teaching them how to work on the computer and showing them off to friends.

Jim is survived by his wife Brenda Young of Little Rock; his son James Wakefield Young Jr. (Emily) of Little Rock; granddaughters: Savannah and Harlow and a host of cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his in laws, Aline & Jess Frazier.
