Ann Evans Faust

Ann Evans Faust, 94, of Helena, Arkansas passed away Friday, April 16, 2021 at her home. She was born November 1, 1926 in Tremont, MS to the late Mr. Thomas Jefferson Evans and Mrs. Arble Sanders Evans.

Ann graduated from Tremont High School in 1945 and moved from there to Memphis, TN to attend nursing school along with her sister, Sue Evans. She graduated from the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Memphis, TN in 1949, where she was class valedictorian. Upon graduation, she moved to Helena to begin her nursing career at the Helena Hospital.

She married Fred Faust of Helena in 1950 and was his faithful and loving companion for 70 years. She retired from nursing to support her family, but would return to work in her empty nester years as a nurse for the Phillips County Health Department.

She was a devoted wife, mother and granny and she lived to please her family. She enjoyed entertaining her extended family and friends. She loved baking and delighted her family and friends with homemade rolls, bread and treats. She loved watching sports and would cheer on loudly her favorite teams.

She was a tireless volunteer, serving for many years with the Red Cross Blood Bank, tutoring with the Each One Teach One adult literacy program, and volunteering at her church, First United Methodist Church of Helena.

Ann was a lifelong learner, taking history and music classes at the local junior college. She learned to make pottery and paint. She realized a childhood dream by becoming an actress in her 60s, starring in Helena Little Theater productions of Steel Magnolias and The Sandbox. She loved music and would happily listen to anyone who would play or sing for her.

She is survived by her three children, Al Faust (Ann) of Marvell, Arkansas, Jill Harrison (Bobby) of Madison, Mississippi and Susan Lorimer (Robert) of Plano, Texas; six grandchildren, Drew Harrison (Brittany), Katherine Smith (Kyle), Will Graddy, Joshua Harrison, Jake Lorimer and Andy Lorimer; two great grandchildren, Houston Stackhouse IV and Ellie Smith; a host of other family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Fred Faust, her brothers, Thomas J. Evans, Jr, Frank David Evans, and Joseph Evans, and her sister, Sue Evans.

A funeral service for Mrs. Faust will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, April 24, 2021 at First United Methodist Church in Helena, Arkansas. Visitation will be held prior to the service at 1:00 p.m., at First United Methodist Church as well. Rev. Deborah Head will officiate.
