Bobbie Barger Jones

of North Little Rock, AR

February 21, 1925 - April 11, 2021

Bobbie Barger Jones went to be with her Lord and join her husband Raymond Jones on April 11, 2021, after a wonderful life of 96 years. She was born in North Little Rock on February 21, 1925, to John and Mary Annie Barger, the youngest daughter of ten children. She attended Searcy High School. After graduation, she began working for Southwestern Bell where on breaks she went to the Piggly Wiggly across the street where the cutest red-haired young man was working. As it turns out, she and that cute red-headed man, Raymond, were married 53 years from 1945 until his death in 1998.

She was also predeceased by her parents, seven brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her three children, Janice Moore, Lisa (Mike) Hostetler, and Keith (Leta) Jones; 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Bobbie and Raymond raised their children in North Little Rock and held countless family gatherings at her beloved home on Goshen in Park Hill. She was famous for hosting "practice parties" before holidays for their friends. She also enjoyed being a member of a group of ladies that called themselves "The Bag Ladies." Having a good time with her friends and building close relationships with them were important to this fun-loving lady. She and Raymond bought a vacation home on Greers Ferry known as the Tick Farm where they enjoyed entertaining the grandkids on many weekends and summer trips. Despite her fear of water and the fact she couldn't swim, she made sure she was on the party barge with all the grands counting heads while they were playing in the water. She wanted to be "where the action
and the fun was" with everyone. Her family was important to her. She participated in Bible Study classes at her church and was a faithful church member. Her faith was important to her.

She was active at Baring Cross Baptist Church and then Park Hill Baptist Church where she was a member of the Harp Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Arkansas Highway Department Retirees Auxiliary and served as a volunteer in the public schools as well as in the PTA at Park Hill Elementary. She was able to work several accounting jobs while raising a family, being active in church, being a leader in Bible Study Fellowship, and entertaining grandkids and friends. She was important to a lot of people.

We would like to thank the many staff members of Fox Ridge Assisted Living for taking such good care of her in the last several years.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 17, at 11:00 a.m. at Edgewood Memorial Park in North Little Rock. COVID precautions will be observed.
