John Irving Farnam, age 79, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2021 due to dementia related complications. John is now reunited with his parents, Mabel and Irving Farnam, his older sister, Belva Maddox, a brother who died in infancy, and his brother-in-law, J.L. McGough.

For John, there was no place like home. Other than a two year military service in the US Air Force, he spent his entire life in New Blaine on the family farm.

Friends and family will remember John for his quiet and gentle nature. He said very little, but his actions spoke volumes. Over the years, John devoted hours of his time to visiting and looking after elderly family members and neighbors. He was not a wealthy man, but he generously shared all that he had. For many years, John carefully maintained the Elizabeth Hall Cemetery, which has served as the final resting place for most of his kin.

His life was a living example of Hebrews 13:16
"And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased."

John is survived by his twin sister, Jean McGough of New Blaine, who has lovingly cared for him over the past several years; his nephews, Michael Maddox of Lacey Washington, and John McGough of Houston, Texas; his niece, Libbey Kitten of Richmond, Virginia; his brother-in-law, Bob Maddox of Richmond, Virginia; Penny and Nolan Poole of Morrilton, Arkansas, and numerous cousins.

John's family is especially grateful for the friendship and support of Lisa and Randy Schluterman, Dolph and Valetia Wellborne, and Martha Farnam.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 12, 2021, at Elizabeth Hall Cemetery in New Blaine with Rev. Judy Hall officiating.
