Ray McDaniel, age 81, of Mountain Home, Arkansas passed away on Wednesday, March 24, 2021. He was born on May 29, 1939, to the late Gus and Ethel McDaniel in Cardiff, Arkansas.
Ray was a devoted member of the Church of Christ. He is known for working as a radio broadcaster for KTLO from 1959 to 1968 and co-hosting one of the first radio talk shows in the Twin Lakes area. He hosted R&R with TT&O with Ray Shields, and from 1969 to 1972, he was the owner and general manager of radio station KRBB in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Ray was an avid outdoorsman, spending lots of time in the woods hunting deer and turkey. Ray married his wife, Lillie McGuirt, on September 21, 1998 in Gurdon, Arkansas. They retired in Gainesville, Missouri where they enjoyed many years of gardening, bird watching, and spending time with neighbors. Ray will forever be loved and missed by his family and friends in Gainesville and Mountain Home.
Ray is survived by two daughters, Cindy (Ron) McCraw and Kathy (Lewis) Bishop; one sister, Matha (Bob) Fulkerson; three step-sons, Allen (Becky) McGuirt, Philip (Jen) McGuirt, and Chris (Jennifer) Williams; four step-daughters, Elizabeth (Darrel) Jones, Tammy (Ronnie) Ricketts, Rebecca (Patrick) Franklin, and Teresa (Stephen) Pennington; numerous grandchildren and step-grandchildren including Shannon (Garrett) Rucker, Anna (Chad) Hudson, Courtney (Brandon) Pickett, Candace (Richard) King, Katy (Zach) DuBois, Laura Oates, Ryan McCraw, and John McCraw; numerous great grandchildren including Amelia Rucker, Strat Rucker, Jackson Criner, Dell Pickett, Sydney King, Myles King, Emily Oates, Willow Oates, and Jacob McCraw, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Lillie McDaniel; his parents; four brothers, Lloyd, Gerald, Gaylen, and Olen McDaniel; two sisters, Laura McDaniel and Eloise Wells; one step-daughter, Gail Clark; and one grandchild, Kaylan Lawrence.
A visitation will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at Roller Funeral Home, with a memorial service following at 3:00 p.m. at Roller Funeral Home, Mountain Home, AR.
