Earlene (Allensworth) Ferguson, 77, of Marion, AR, passed away peacefully in her sleep at Methodist Hospital on Saturday, March 06, 2021 after living with breast cancer for 12 years.


Earlene was born on January 1, 1944 in Joiner, AR, to the late Earl and Mary Allensworth.


A graduate of Shawnee High School in 1962, Earlene married the late Eddie Ferguson of Jericho, AR that same year and settled into Marion, AR where they raised their family.


Earlene is survived by her three sons, Jeff Ferguson and his husband Kevin Burke of Belvedere, CA, Philip Ferguson of Nashville, AR, and John-David Ferguson and his fiancée Marianela Moreno of Marion, AR; her two sisters, Mary Nell Shanks of Tyronza, AR and Christine Neal of Marion, AR and their families along with grandchildren, nieces and nephews, extended family, as well as her companion Joe Wood of Marion, AR and Pepper the schnauzer. Earlene is predeceased by her brother Robert Allensworth of Joiner, AR.


Earlene is best remembered for living a life of joy and laughter with her beloved Eddie, family and friends. She enjoyed the beauty and simplicity of life from the morning sunshine to the flutter of hummingbirds to the freshly bloomed flowers. When cancer showed up, Earlene didn't let it slow her down one bit. She was always on the go, bringing along her big smile and playful spirit. In fact, Earlene enjoyed nothing more than her many trips, across town or across the country, except for maybe the stories she could tell when she returned. It's stories like these, and the many, many more from the happy times she inspired, that she told with a twinkle in her eye, that we will miss the most. Her stories drew us in, brought us light and warmth and oh so much laughter.


The last verse of the poem How The Birds Came captures the beautiful spirit of Earlene. It goes:


So, every year when laughing Spring;
Dissolves the snows, on eager wing;
The birds of forest, hill and glen;
Return to know their trees again.


We love you Earlene. You will be the laughter of spring in our hearts forever.


Visitation will be held at the Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Memphis on Thursday, March 11, 2021 4:00 p.m. '''' 6:00 p.m., followed by a graveside service for family at Louise Chapel Cemetery in Joiner, AR at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, March 12, 2021.
