Billy Dean LeMay, 91, passed peacefully at home in Sherwood, AR on Tuesday, February 9th, 2021. He was born on December 6, 1929 in Louisville, AR to William Henry LeMay and Hazel Evelyn Maryman-LeMay.
Bill worked for the Cotton Railroad for ten years as a station agent and telegraph operator. He served honorably in the United States Army in Korea as a Specialist. After attending accounting school, he worked for ten years at Texas International Airlines. He finished his career in the transportation industry at Sunbelt Airlines and Yellow Freight Lines at the Little Rock Airport.
Bill was married to Judy Hollis on June 4, 1950 until her passing on February 6, 2007 (56 years). They had one son, Brad LeMay. Bill was married to Genevieve Blair-Bowden on July 30, 2007 until his passing (13 years).
Bill was well known as a generous and good Christian man as a faithful member of the Somer's Avenue and Levy churches of Christ for many decades. He was an exceptional cook, recognized for his grilled steaks, oatmeal-raisin cookies, spicy pickles, and Thanksgiving dressing. He was gifted in landscaping and yardwork as well as general maintenance as a diligent property landlord.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother William Henry LeMay, Jr., three adult brothers John Henry LeMay, Sam Boone LeMay, and Tandy Rodney LeMay, and his spouse Judy Hollis-LeMay.
He is survived by his wife Genevieve Bowden-LeMay, sister, Lorraine (Leroy) Moore, son Brad (Dorie) LeMay, son Harvey (Ellen) Bowden, daughter Brenda De La Hunt, and daughter Nancy (David) Sweet. His grandchildren include Nathan LeMay, Lauren (Jonathan) Rogers, Joshua LeMay, Kimberly De La Hunt, Charles (Hope) De La Hunt, Tabitha Bowden, Edward Bowden, Karrie Bowden, Rachel Sweet, and numerous nephews, nieces, and great-grandchildren.
Pall bearers are Brad LeMay, Jonathan Rogers, Charles De La Hunt, Harvey Bowden, Hank Moore and David Sweet.
Visitation will be at 10:00 am Friday, February 12, 2021 followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am at Roller-Owens Funeral Home in North Little, Arkansas. Officiant will be Brother Garry Neal. Graveside services will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Hope, AR at 3:00 pm.
Due to COVID guidelines, all attendees will be required to provide and wear a face covering.
