Ronald K. Briggs

of Bryant, AR

January 19, 1947 - February 7, 2021

Ron K. Briggs crossed the threshold from this temporary dwelling to his forever home on February 7, 2021, at the age of 74. He is now in the place he lived his life to be. He has entered God's presence without the Parkinson's that relentlessly created pain and destroyed his body.
Ron was born in Memphis, TN to John and Jessie Briggs. He graduated from DeWitt High School, received his B.S.E. and Masters degree from Henderson State University. While in college he met his soul mate, Mona, whom he married after his sophomore year in 1967. He enjoyed a lifelong career as a football, track, soccer coach and teacher working in Missouri, Louisiana, Utah, and Arkansas. He also loved the many summers he spent working in the rice fields of his family's farm.
Ron will be fondly remembered by his family and friends as a quiet, Godly man of great inner strength, loyalty, and integrity. He was a man of simple tastes and a deep abiding faith. His love for his family was boundless and being with them was a source of great happiness. He was so proud of his children, grandchildren, and siblings. He never tired of old Gunsmoke episodes, Rocky movies, driving around the farm, puttering in the yard, fried catfish and anything chocolate. And he loved the Lord. He wasn't pushy about his faith, but it formed the bedrock of his life.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Jessie; his father, John; his daughter, Heather; and his brother John.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 53 years, Mona; his son Roman of Bisbee, AZ; two grandchildren, Ryder and Wyatt Sillavan of Mabelvale; his two brothers, Randy Briggs(Becky) of DeWitt; Jesse Briggs (Nancy) of Reydel; sister Jan DeVazier of Indianapolis, IN; and many nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to the Arkansas Hospice aides and nurses and the staff of Pleasant Hills Senior Care Home for the care and love they demonstrated to him during the final months of his life. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research would be appreciated.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February eleventh, at Roller Alcoa Funeral Home from 4:00 -7:00 PM.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a face covering is required, and social distancing will be practiced when in attendance.
