Mary Idelia Pridgin

of Scranton, AR

July 13, 1925 - February 1, 2021

Monday, February 1, 2021, saw the passing of Mary Idelia Pridgin of Scranton, Arkansas. Known as Idelia in childhood and into adulthood, she became known as Mary when she entered the nursing program at Westark Community College. She graduated and became an LPN in the fall of 1974. She worked at Sparks Hospital and later retired as plant nurse at the Tyson Foods Plant in Fort Smith.

Mary returned to the Scranton area after retirement to live on the same farmland where she and her former husband, TJ raised their sons, David and Gary. Prior to becoming a nurse, Mary worked for many years as a seamstress at Lady Fair Mills near Ratcliff and at Paris Manufacturing in Paris.

Mary was born on Monday, July 13, 1925 to Heartsill A. and Ida Mae Bradley Dobbins. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Emma Dobbins Rowland, her brothers Joe, Curtis, and Leon Dobbins, and a great grandson, Finn Thomas Pridgin.

She is survived by her sons David and Gary and their wives, Reba and Patty. Her grandchildren include David's children and their spouses; Mary Jane and Heath Spillers, Lori Jean and Jim Garvey, Kari Jo and Cory Tedford, and David and Ashleigh Pridgin; and Gary's sons and their spouses Nick Pridgin and Nich Cossey, Ryan and Monique Pridgin, and Jordan and Jordyn Pridgin. Her great grandchildren are Emily and Ethan Spillers; Nate and Mary Garvey; Zoey, Kennedy, Jackson and Hayes Tedford; Adrian and Vivienne Pridgin; and Wyatt Sawyer Pridgin. Mary Idelia was a charter member of the First Baptist Church in Scranton.

Viewing hours will be 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 4, 2021, and 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., Friday, February 5, 2021, at Roller Funeral Home in Paris.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 5, 2021, at McKendree Cemetery near Subiaco. Burial will follow under the direction of Roller Funeral Home in Paris.

Her seven grandchildren honored her as pallbearers.
