Deborah "Hawkins" Gay Person

of Rogers, AR

March 12, 1957 - December 20, 2020

Deborah Gay Person ''Hawkins'', 63, of Rogers passed away Sunday, December 20, 2020.

She was born March 12, 1957 in Batesville, Arkansas to Joe B. Hawkins and Lois G (Moss) Hawkins.

Deborah was a member of Church of Christ.

Deb was an LPN for many years that served her residents with the same compassion and love that they so deserved in their later years of life, often referring to them as ''My People''. Deb gave all she had and then some to those that were fortunate enough to be within her presence and never asked for anything in return, (other than to take care of her People) she was just that special of a lady.

She loved her family deeply (both human and her fur babies), they meant everything to her. Her passion was watching her children and grandchildren play basketball, softball, football, or anything they were doing, she was their #1 fan often traveling all over to show support and root them on. Deb's greatest joy was family gatherings where the family was all in one place, even for the day. On holidays she always worked at the facility taking care of her people, she would arrive home around 7AM and without sleep or rest would cook for hours just to make sure she prepared that something special you really liked was on the table (and what a spread it was). If you came away hungry, well that was on you.

She also loved shopping trips and weekend getaways with her daughters, she cherished those moments and the memories they created together. Mema so loved her grandchildren, she called them her ''Babies'', just the thought or mention of them melted her heart and made her smile at the same time. She was extremely proud of each one of them. There were times we would talk and she would tear up as she mentioned the pride she felt in how her own Children grew into such admirable adults and how they were now raising their own special little families. It just doesn't get any deeper than that.

Deb had an amazing green thumb and a love for plants. She always said that her plants grew so well because she ''talked'' to them. She treated them with the same love and care as she would any human. The neighbors got a kick out of her as she sat in her rocking chair on the porch surrounded by her orchard of plants (I say orchard, believe me there is an orchard 😊). She would sit there for hours not saying a word, just rocking with that wonderful grin of hers.

She was an avid concert goer and had the time of her life at each and every one she attended. She was able to give her super hugs to the guys from Daughtry, Journey, the Goo Goo dolls, and OMG her heart throb of a lifetime the man himself Kenny Rogers (I don't think she washed her lips for a couple of weeks and she surely walked on air for months). Talk about a blow to a husbands ego''¦well''¦It was all in good fun, plus I knew he was married and on the road..LOL

She loved the Razorbacks and tried to never miss a game on TV, She really enjoyed the times she joined the kids at an actual game, I remember how excited she was to go and see it live (Thank you kids for providing that dream for her!). In fact, she was so much a fan, our poor Apache had his own Razorback Jersey and Bandana she would dress him up in on game day. It was actually pretty awesome that when she pulled them out and said come here it's time for your razorback (Jersey) and your Handsome (Bandana) he would literally run over to her, stand on his hind legs and let her suit him up. He would wear it from morning until time for bed, he was proud of it because, after all, his Momma gave it to him.

Although taken much too soon we know deep within our hearts that the lord now has an angel that will continue to help So, So, Many. We will miss her always, and think of her daily, as her impact on each of our lives is undeniable and unforgettable. We love you always Deb (Babe), Mom, Mema, Sis, you truly are one in a million.

Survivors include her husband of 17 years, Brian Person of Rogers; son, Darrell Gillmore of Batesville; two daughters, Belinda Carter (Brad) of Springdale and Gayla White (Brody) of Mountain View; two brothers, Larry Hawkins (Patti) of Batesville and Donald Hawkins (Jacquie) of St. Louis, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Madison Gillmore, Shayla Gillmore, Jacey Gillmore, Bailey Carter, Bryce Carter, Bree White, and Gus White. Additionally, she is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and Friends.
