Darlene Sue Rea

of Marshall, AR

May 9, 1949 - December 14, 2020

Darlene Sue (Jones) Rea, of Snowball, AR, passed away on December 14, 2020 in Harrison, Arkansas. Darlene was born in Marshall on May 9th, 1949 to Fay and Cozette (Drewry) Jones. She was the sixth child, and first daughter, of Fay and Cozette.

Her senior year of high school, she received an assignment to research her family history. Little did anyone know that assignment would spark her love of genealogy. For more than 50 years, Darlene collected records, news clipping, stories and pictures on many Searcy County families. She was a walking encyclopedia of the history of Snowball, its school, and of Searcy County in general. Another spark she found in high school lasted almost 53 years. On December 22, 1967, Darlene married Bobby Raymond Rea and her proudest moments were yet to come. Bob and Darlene welcomed three children into this world: Bobby Randall "Randy" Rea, Rodney Scott Rea, and Amy Faith (Rea) Horton. While she loved her children, she liked her grandkids better. Six grandchildren were lucky enough to get to call her Nanny, Ashton Cheyenne (Rea) Hightower, Skylier Scott Rea, Aydan Quinn Rea, TayaLee Sage Rea, Cale Nathaniel Horton, and Kian Rea Horton. Being a mama/nanny came before anything else for her and she loved her whole family more than anything else in the world.

She was preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law Raymond and Imogene Rea; brothers Keith "Red" Jones and Maxie Don Jones; brothers-in-law Paul Sweeney and Ricky Rea; nieces Angie Randall and Mandy Fulton, and a great nephew Landon Naile.

Survivors include her husband Bob Rea of the home; children: Randy Rea (Cindy) of Harrison, Rodney Rea of Marshall, and Amy Horton (Brock) of Marshall; grandchildren: Ashton Hightower (Zane) of Bellefonte, Skylier Rea of Marshall, Aydan Rea of Plummerville, Taya Rea of Bellefonte, Cale Horton of Marshall and Kian Horton of Marshall; brothers Darrell Jones (Jo) of Lead Hill, Bill Jones (Troylene) of Alexander, Millis Jones (Millie) of Harrison, Kenny Jones (Loretta) of Dover, Royce Jones (Lena) of Harrison, sister Sharlene (Wayne) Hudson of Diamond City; brother in law Jim Rea ( Cathy) of Cleveland; sisters in law, Carolyn Sweeney of Bellefonte, Pat Stevens (Mel) of Searcy, Pam Stone of Ozark, Nancy Jones of Marshall, and Lynn Jones of Harrison and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends that loved and will miss her.
