George Finis Swiderski, age 87 of Marshall, Arkansas passed away on Monday, December 14th, 2020 at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center in Harrison, Arkansas. He was born at Rt. 2, Vilonia, Arkansas on February 22nd, 1933 on George Washington's birthday to Tony Swiderski and Frances Heslep Swiderski.

George was a veteran of the Korean War where he served in the United States Air Force. Upon returning to Vilonia, he worked for the Standard and Allied Telephone Company and was transferred to the Marshall office. There he met Ellen Maye Drewry, a switch board operator. George and Ellen were married December 17th, 1962 on her birthday. In 1970 he was elected County and Circuit Clerk of Searcy County. He served in that position for 12 years. According to the late George Daniel, "George Swiderski is the only county official ever elected in Searcy County that was not from Searcy County". George later served the city of Marshall as Mayor from 1990 to 1994. He contacted many during his years of public service and was always friendly and helpful. He enjoyed quail hunting, crappie fishing and the horse races. George took great pride in his garden, and he loved to talk politics.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Frances Swiderski; four brothers, Virgil, Lonnie, Chuck and Ardell; and two sisters, Madie and Maggie.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Ellen Drewry Swiderski; son, Terry Finis Swiderski and wife Molli; and three grandchildren, Katelyn Maye Swiderski, Sarah Claire Swiderski and Matthew Ross Swiderski.

Graveside services for George will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 16th, 2020 at Bear Creek Cemetery near Marshall, Arkansas with Bro. Jackie Smithson officiating. Bearers will be Kevin Elliott, Kenny Cassell, Johnny Neel, Sonny Woods, Sid Lowrance and Don Stoner. Honorary bearer will be Matthew Swiderski. At the family's request, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Searcy County Veterans Memorial Association, 108 Noah Horton Memorial Drive, Marshall, AR 72650.
