Glen Elwood Rutledge, 89, of Southside passed away November 4, 2020; which would have been his and his beloved wife's 65th wedding anniversary.

He was born on September 12, 1931 in Southside, Arkansas to Nicholas John Rutledge and Mary Stella (Sandy) Rutledge.

Glen was a faithful member of the Church of the Nazarene. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He taught elementary public school in Texas, Washington, and Arkansas; locally he taught in Sulphur Rock and Pleasant Plains; from 1985 until 2006 he worked at White River Area Agency on Aging and was one of the original owners of Karpet Korner in Batesville. He enjoyed playing music on his guitar, singing, and belonged to a church trio and quartet; he also enjoyed dancing, traveling, gardening, and being around people.

Survivors include his two daughters, Donna Sue Rutledge Hines (Paul) of Rowlett, Texas; Darlene Rutledge Fowler (Jeff) of Southside, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Dr. Philip Hines, Nicholas Fowler, Carolyn McLaughlin; and three great-grandchildren, Cheyenne McLaughlin, Andee Rae Hines, and Walker Robert Fowler.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Iola Rutledge; one brother, Jimmy Odell Rutledge; and two sisters, Willa Dean (Rutledge) Head and Mary Lee (Rutledge) Presley.

A memorial service will begin at 2:00 pm on Sunday, November 8, 2020 at Roller-Crouch Funeral Home in Batesville with Dr. Roberta Bustin officiating.

Visitation will be held starting at 1:00 pm until the memorial service begins Sunday, November 8, 2020 at the funeral home.

We are complying with the Arkansas Department of Health guidelines and limiting indoor memorial services and visitation attendance to 50 people at one time. All attendees must provide and wear their own masks before entering, and social distancing will be observed.
