Penny was born June 16, 1942 to Clifford Marshall and Loretta Ilene Atherly in Bloomfield, Nebraska. She moved to Redondo Beach, CA with her family when she was 9 years old after the death of her father.

She was the 4th of five children. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband (Russell Bixler, Sr.), her sister (Laura Mae Prince) and her two brothers (Clifford Atherly Jr. and Laurence Atherly). Penny's younger sister, Rita Ruhs, died just 5 months after Penny.

Penny met and married Russell when she was 16 years old. They were married for 51 years before Russell lost his fight with cancer and was called home to the lord. She is survived by her son, Russell Bixler Jr. and her daughter, Terri Kahn, as well as 7 grandchildren: Sandra, Ryan, Jessica, Shane, Sarah, Tony and Alex, and 8 great-grandchildren.

Penny loved to go fishing with her family and friends. She was a very talented seamstress and she loved to crochet. She was very modest about her skill level but she was quite talented none the less. She loved to sit at her dining table and watch the cardinals and blue jays, as well as other birds, through her window that would fly into her yard and feed from her bird feeder. She loved to cook and share recipes with her family.

Penny was a loving, generous woman and was loved by all who knew her. Family was very important to her and she was always available with open arms when anyone needed help. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her and will continue to be in our hearts forever!
