On Tuesday, October 27, 2020, Steve Wayne Treat of Marshall, Arkansas finished his time with us and departed this life at the age of 60.

He was born on October 1, 1960 in Mountain View, Arkansas to Evelyn and S.W. Treat, Jr. He had a sister, Susan, who never quite forgave him for spooking her horse and causing a head injury that resulted in her needing a headwrap and being called "Pocahontas" by her classmates, but who got her revenge and went on to offer up parts of organs when needed. 7 years later he was given a brother, Stan, whether he wanted one or not, who went on to happily allow himself to be Tom Sawyered into the heavy lifting of various of Steve's great ideas.

Steve was a member of the Grandview Church of Christ, though he spent the the majority of the 1960's being taken outside by whichever member of the Marshall Church of Christ caught him making mischief before his mother did. This training in pain tolerance served him well as he battled liver disease in his later life, though it is often thought that the community did their job TOO well as he had a tendency not to realize that the situation was dire until the last possible second - a tendency that led members of his family to suspect that they were being tested in order to satisfy Steve's curiosity over whether or not they would have made a good rum-runner in the Prohibition. Steve approached the whole of his life with an unmatched sense of humor and his storytelling abilities are legendary. The shine in his eye as he approached the punchline and his infectious grin once he reached it was a gift to his family, friends, and random passersby.

He is survived by his parents and siblings, his son Seth who made him a father, and his daughter Stephanie who made him a grandfather. Steve left behind a grandchild, Liam Treat whom he loved more than life and who made him eat the words "I'm glad I don't have grandchildren!" Countless other extended family remains to carry on the memory of our family Master of Mischief.

Thankfully, Steve's attempts to convince certain family members to send him off Viking style with a tanerite raft on the Buffalo River fell on deaf ears. There will be a non-explosive visitation at Roller Coffman funeral home in Marshall Arkansas on Thursday October 29, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held at Big Flat cemetery on Friday, October 30 at 10:00 a.m.

Roller-Coffman is doing our part to stop the spread of Covid-19. We are complying with the CDC's guidelines and limiting indoor gatherings to 50 people or less. We do require everyone entering to wear a mask. Those attending graveside services are requested to please social distance and wear a mask.
