Urba J. Reed, 93, passed away October 7, 2020, at her daughter's home in Memphis, TN. She was born in Cave City, AR, the only child of Urban and Floy Carpenter. She grew up in Evening Shade, AR where she had wonderful childhood memories and enjoyed spending time in Cave City with her grandmothers and many cousins. She was valedictorian of her high school class and began attending Arkansas College at age 16. Widowed at 26 she began a career in banking, retiring from Bank of America (formerly First National Bank) as VP and Chief Financial Officer. Vacations for her were excuses to travel and see the world. She married Stan Reed when she was 62 and they had many wonderful years together. She is survived by her daughter, Candace Hutchison Stokes, granddaughters, Sandra Bryant and Suzanne Walker, great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Charlotte Bryant and Caroline and Brandon Walker, stepson Rick Reed and his family, and Step-Daughter Tanya Reed Wright and her family. Services will be private. Memorials may be sent in her memory to First United Methodist Church in Batesville or Lyon College.
