Mr. John Leroy Townsend, 87 of Marion, Arkansas departed this life on Tuesday, October 6, 2020. He was born on January 21, 1933 to John and Sarah Townsend in Thonotosassa, Florida.
Mr. Townsend was a Veteran in the United States Navy and was a member of the Missouri Street Church of Christ. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with his family.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, his former wives; Helen Russell and Marcell Dowdy, brother; Dan Townsend.
His survivors included his wife; Gwen Townsend of Marion, Arkansas, daughters; Teresa Dallas of Wynne, Arkansas, Sherry Bowen of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Tina Townsend of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Jeanie Baker of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Becky Adams of Memphis, Tennessee, sister; Gladys Newsom of Thonotosassa, Florida, seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Roller-Citizens Funeral Home will be following guidelines issued by the Arkansas Department of Health and the CDC regarding COVID-19. Social distancing of at least six feet must be practiced and all funeral attendees must provide and wear their own masks.
On the behalf of the family, due to COVID-19 all services will be private.
