Doyle J. ScrogginsI am a Veteran.

of Scotland, AR

April 22, 1932 - September 22, 2020

Doyle J. Scroggins, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather was called home after a courageous battle with Covid-19. Doyle was a retired barber, cattleman, community organizer, a veteran of the United States Navy, and the patriarch of his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hayes Scroggins and Bertie Russell Scroggins, and siblings Euin Scroggins, Fern Hornbuckle, Mildred Mahan, and Weldon Scroggins.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary Scroggins; his daughter, Sherry Tanner (Fred); his granddaughter, Jill Ward (Alan); his great-grandsons, Jones Ward and James Tiger Ward, all of Russellville; and a sister, Claudia Jean Crow of Morrilton.

After graduating from Scotland High School in 1950 he attended Arkansas State Teacher's College before enlisting in the United States Navy where he proudly served during the Korean War. He returned home and wed the love of his life, Mary, on June 17, 1952. He and Mary later settled in North Little Rock with newborn daughter Sherry. He opened The Amboy Barber Shop in 1958 which he operated with great success. Doyle also ran a thriving cattle operation, The Scroggins Ranch, breeding Polled Herefords. Doyle retired in 1999 to spend time traveling, riding his favorite horses, Rambler and Bojangles, serving as Head Trail Master in the Chuck Wagon Races, going dancing, spending time with his family, especially Mary, shooting pool, and being active at the Scotland Senior Center. He was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Clinton and was a wonderful example of a godly man and a Christian. Our Papa will be greatly missed.

A visitation will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday at Foster Cemetery in Scotland, Arkansas, followed by a graveside service under the direction of Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Clinton.
