Ellan Jones Maxwell, 90, of Marion, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2020. She was born on March 26, 1930, to Mattie and Cleve Jones of McCrory, Arkansas, and lived most of her life in Arkansas.

The happiest part of Ellan's life began when she became a grandmother, a day that coincided with her wedding anniversary, February 2, 1974. She had seven grandchildren in all and was very involved in each of their lives. She attended ball games, art shows, band concerts, birthday parties, school functions, and was always available to help with homework. Christmas and Thanksgiving were great fun at her house with lots of good food and laughter. She leaves her family with many happy memories.

Ellan cultivated a love of reading in her children and grandchildren and had many books. She loved to read! She attended Bible Study Fellowship classes in West Memphis and was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church in Cordova, TN. She was a gifted artist as well as a talented singer. Ellan was a hard worker who gave her all to any task that was before her, and she enjoyed working in the yard and seeing things grow. Her main motivation in life, however, was to show love to her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Mark Stevenson Maxwell, her son-in-law Phillip Brick, and grandson John Maxwell Garrott. She is survived by her daughters Lynn Garrott of Cordova and Leslie Brick of Marion, and by her grandchildren: Daniel Garrott and Emily Garrott of Cordova, Rachel Maxwell Hildebrand (Kristen) of Memphis, Leah Maxwell Lung of West Memphis, Clay Maxwell of Cordova, Phil Brick (Megan) of Little Rock, Arkansas, and William Maxwell Brick of Memphis, TN, and by four great grandchildren.
