Charles Eugene Pinkerton, of Mabelvale, lived 77 full years on this earth and died August 17, 2020. He was born January 16, 1943, to Jack and Lilly Pinkerton. When Charles was 18, he joined the army and stationed abroad in Berlin, Germany to serve his country during the Cold War. He loved sharing his precious memories and helping others. After his journey with the military Charles continued serving others as a firefighter for 35 years. He retired as Captain of the Little Rock Fire Department at Station 18. Charles was very proud and honored when the city gave him an award for refusing to stop CPR after others had given up. He and his team as a result, saved a life. Charles was a good neighbor and the first one to lend a helping hand. He loved to spend his time on new projects; inventing things while working with his hands was his passion and his gift. If it was broken, Charles could fix it. He loved racing motorcycles until he was unable to do so. Charles coached other firefighters in national competitions, developed a love for classic cars and enjoyed his membership in the British Motoring Club of Arkansas. He worked very hard to provide for his family, who were his pride and joy.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Bryan Pinkerton; and his brother, Jerry Pinkerton. He is survived by his loving and supporting wife, Betty; daughter, Stacey Pinkerton; son in law, William Cortvriendt; daughter in law, Shannon Pinkerton; his grandchildren, Hana Bou; Jacob (Sara) Pinkerton; Mackenzie Pinkerton; his sisters, Paulette Walker, Lillian Young, Judy Wells, Marlene Walker, and Darlene Riddling.

Visitation will be held from 5:30 7:30 pm, Monday, August 24, 2020, at Roller Drummond Funeral Home, 10900 Interstate 30. Funeral services will follow at 10 am, Tuesday, August 25, 2020, in the chapel of Roller Drummond with Pastor George Yarberry officiating. Burial will be at Wood Family Cemetery, 13415 Dykes Road. To comply with the Arkansas Department of Health guidelines the visitation and funeral service will be limited to 60 people in the building at one time. All attendees must provide and wear their own masks, and practice social distancing of 6 feet.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made in Charles's name to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.
