Bennie Evelyn Fairley

of Memphis, TN

August 1, 1926 - July 23, 2020

Bennie Evelyn (Kunze) Fairley, Osceola

Bennie was born August 1, 1926 in Hector, Arkansas to Mox and Bertha Kunze and passed away in Memphis, TN on July 23, 2020 just before her 94th birthday. Bennie graduated from Danville High School in 1944. She attended college for two years at Arkansas Tech and graduated from Henderson State Teacher's College with a degree in Elementary Education. She taught school in Ola before moving to Osceola in 1950 where she taught for 35 years, retiring in 1985. As a beautiful, smart, talented young woman she caught the eye of the handsome Max L. ''Bo'' Fairley of Osceola, and they were married on December 20, 1952. They raised their son, Max and their daughter, Judy in Osceola and were devoted members of the First Christian Church. During her retirement years, Bennie enjoyed traveling, antiquing, serving in her Church, lunching with her retired teacher group and spending time with her family. Many friends, but especially our dear friend, Linda Freeman, were instrumental in helping Bennie, Bo and Judy remain in Osceola until 2016 when they moved to Memphis, where they enjoyed fellowship with and were cared for by their son Max and his family. Shortly after the move to Memphis, Bennie moved again to Applingwood nursing home where she was well cared for and where she made many new friends. Bo's health declined and he passed away in January 2018 just after he and Bennie had celebrated 65 years of marriage. Judy was a wonderful companion and caregiver for her Mother and Daddy but just prior to Bo's passing, she set out on a new and exciting life at the Baddour Center in Senatobia, MS.

Bennie is survived by her daughter, Judy Lynn Fairley, her son, Max Lincoln Fairley, Jr. , her daughter-in-law, Mary Helen, and her grandsons, Phillip Lincoln Fairley and his wife Shelby Francis, with whom Bennie shared the love of teaching, Warren Steed Fairley and Paul Edward Fairley. Bennie is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews who were faithful to call and visit with her and her family.
Bennie will be remembered as a loving and faithful wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend who loved and served the Lord with a thankful and glad heart.
