Mary Jo Rogers passed away July 15th, just 11 days before her 89th birthday. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Walter Hudson Rogers, Jr., and by her three children and their families: Ben Rogers, Diane Harrison(Greg) and Danny Rogers (Dee).She is also survived by her five grandchildren: Andrew Harrison (Sarah), Katie Harrison, Cody Rogers, Morgan Rogers, and Hayden Rogers. In addition, she leaves behind her great-granddaughter, Ava Harrison. She is also fondly remembered by a wonderful caretaker, LaDonna Henry.
Mary Jo will be greatly missed by her beloved sister, Emily Lloyd (Harris), along with Emily's four children and their families. Ben and Christeva Balcom, Mary Jo and Emily's parents welcomed her home when she departed this life.
Mary Jo cherished her family and gave selflessly to them. Her faith was always a central part of her life. She was a member of Geyer Springs First Baptist Church and loved to sing in the church choir and teach Sunday School. Her other passion was nursing, and she retired as a nursing instructor from Baptist School of Nursing. Memorials may be made to the church.
A private family graveside service will be held July 18th at 3:00 P.M. The service can be viewed on Facebook livestream. A public memorial service will be held at a later date.
