Mr. Karl W. Schmidt, born to Otto and Winnie Schmidt, on January 4, 1935 in North Little Rock, Arkansas. He died peacefully, at the age of 85, on July 11, 2020 at his home in North Little Rock, Arkansas surrounded by his wife and loved ones.

Karl graduated from North Little Rock High School in 1952. He proudly served in the US army. After his service, he attended the University of Arkansas where he received his degree as a Mechanical Engineer. He worked at the Arkansas Foundry, 3M and Reynolds Metal. While working for Reynolds Metal, he helped design and build the largest aluminum plant in Western Australia. At that time, it was the largest aluminum plant in the world. Karl retired from Reynolds Metal in 1992. Karl was a faithful member of Hope Lutheran Church in Jacksonville.

He was preceded in death by his parents Otto and Winnie Schmidt, brothers Richard Schmidt and Donnie Schmidt and niece Lisa Schmidt.

He is survived by his wife, Tanas 'Pattison' Schmidt; sons, Eric Schmidt, Kurt (Aurora) Schmidt and Aaron (Kelli) Schmidt. His sister, Wrenetta 'Schmidt' Richie; and brother, Melvin (Carolyn) Schmidt. Grandchildren, Kristen Schmidt, Kaleb Schmidt, Kameron Schmidt, Rachel Williams, Bailey Schmidt, Chloe Schmidt, Riley Schmidt, and Emily Schmidt. One great-granddaughter, Boston Schmidt. Nieces and nephews, Donald (Angela) Schmidt, Andy (Carol) Schmidt, Susan (David) Diamond, Alan (Bennita) Burns, Brian (Rebecca) Burns, Craig (Verna) Burns, Kris Kraft, Tanya 'Kraft' Kaltenback, Scott (Crystal) Kraft, Corey Pattison; and many grand nieces and nephews.

Funeral services held Friday, July 17, 10:00 A.M., at Hope Lutheran Church, Jacksonville. Burial at Bayou Meto Cemetery.
