Helen Ruth Davis

Helen Ruth Haley Davis died peacefully in her home in Fayetteville, Arkansas on July 5, 2020, at the age of 92. She was born on February 25, 1928, to Raymond and Alice Haley in Atoka, Oklahoma. The family later moved to Batesville, Arkansas where she would attend high school and then graduate from Lyon College with a degree in English. She married her high school sweetheart, Robert (Bob) Davis, and they would enjoy 49 years of marriage before his death in 1998.

Bob and Helen lived in Batesville, Fayetteville, and Fort Smith, Arkansas before settling in Searcy, Arkansas with their two daughters Patricia and Rebecca. Helen was a Homemaker and served as a Volunteer with the Girl Scouts, the Gideons Auxiliary, and at her church. She also worked alongside Bob at their business, Davis Pharmacy. In 2005, she moved to Fayetteville to live near her daughter Patricia and her family.

Helen was a person of deep faith and a long-time member of First Baptist Church, Searcy before moving to Fayetteville and joining First Baptist, Fayetteville. She was an avid reader and loved spending time tending her flower gardens. She enjoyed keeping up with family and dear friends through phone calls and letters and especially loved hearing stories about her extended family's cats and dogs.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and her siblings Claude Haley, Clarence Haley, and Lucille Haley Fey.

Survivors include daughters Patricia Brown and Rebecca (Becky) Brinkman as well as grandchildren Ellen Brown, Leslie (James) Brown Cowles, Blake (Megan) Brinkman, Claire Brinkman, and great-grandson Wendell Brinkman. She is also survived by sister-in-law Ruth Haley and brother-in-law Ed Hogenson as well as many nieces and nephews who were very dear to her.

The family will hold a private graveside service at White County Memorial Gardens.
