Artist James Stepp, 93, passed away Monday, March 30, 2020 in Conway, Arkansas. He was born March 6, 1927 in Spokeplant, Madison County, Arkansas to Newell McKinley, Sr. & Zula (Acord) Stepp. Artist proudly served our country in the United States Army during World War II. Artist had several careers as a truck driver, logger, farmer and factory worker. He enjoyed growing a garden, driving trucks and was a great musician, playing the guitar and harmonica with the Spokeplant Darlings.

He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Julie Nell Stepp, brother Newell McKinley, Jr., twin sister Argie Jayne Benson, first wife Tommie Hoskins Mooney, second wife Adelaide Adamson Stepp, and great-grandson Pace Alan Bryant.

Artist is survived by his children James D. (Joyce) Stepp of Conway, David (Jeanne DeLanois) Stepp of Little Rock and Debra (Michael) Conard of Cabot; grandchildren: James W. (Christy) Stepp of Bigelow, Lindsey Stepp of Conway, Ashley (Joe) Bryant of Rogers and Weston Conard of Cabot; his pride and joy, great-granddaughter Bailey Bryant of Rogers; brother Dwight (Peggy) Stepp of Batson, two sisters, Rebecca (Leroy) Melson of Prairie Grove and Merle Denzer of Neosho, Missouri and a host of other family and friends.

In lieu of flowers the family encourages donations to your local animal shelter or Alzheimer's Arkansas. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the compassionate care provided by the staff of Heritage Living Center in Conway. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2020 at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Clarksville. Burial will be at Evans Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 29, 2020.
