Pearl Glee Hall

of Cozahome, AR

November 5, 1922 - December 24, 2019

Pearl Glee (Watts) Hall, 97, of Cozahome, AR, died Tuesday, December 24, 2019 at the Highland Court Resident Care facility in Marshall. She was born November 5, 1922, in the Watts community on South Mountain in Searcy county Arkansas to Everett Ace and Mary Josie O'Neal Watts.

Pearl was the 7th of 8 children. She grew up in Marshall enjoying the small town life remembering going to the square on Saturdays and visiting the various stores. Pearl attended Marshall public schools. Growing up she helped her family with raising vegetables, growing cain for sorghum, milking cows, feeding chickens, and doing the daily chores. She attended church regularly with her family. Pearl met her husband, Charlie Hall, when she gave him a drink of water from her daddy's well. They married on July 13th, 1940, in Yellville and started their lives together in Cozahome, Arkansas. They were married for 64 years. Pearl raised four children. She moved with her family around the country while Charlie served in the navy, worked in sawmills, and the drywall business. Pearl worked in the shipyards of California during WWII working as a "Rosie Riveter." The family eventually settled back in Arkansas in the 1960s. Pearl worked at the Timex plant in North Little Rock for eight years making wrist watches. They moved back to Cozahome in the mid 1970s. This move allowed their grandchildren the opportunity to experience the trials and tribulations of using an outhouse in the middle of a winter night and the real reason a Sears & Roebuck catalog was published. Charlie pastored the Cozahome church and Pearl taught Sunday school for many years. It was in Cozahome and Marshall where she lived out her remaining days. Pearl was an amazing cook known for her breakfasts, pies, and desserts. Thanksgiving and Christmas were always special in the holler at Cozahome. Turkey and ham would always be served. Pearl made a tasty chocolate sheet cake and arranged pecans in circles on top of her Karo nut pies. Family and friends were always treated to a great meal and never left hungry.

Pearl was preceded in death by parents, Everett and Mary Watts; her siblings, Euclid Watts, Ora Watts Hamilton, Jessie Watts Allen, Allen Watts, Doyle Watts, Polly Ann Watts Laffoon, and James Kalep Watts; husband Charlie Blair Hall; son Marion Everett Hall, and daughter Deborah Jane Phillips.

She is survived by her son, Ben Charles Hall of Cozahome, daughter, Linda Harvey (Butch) of Little Rock; five grandchildren, John Harvey (Jana) of Winslow, AR, Melissa Hall of Fayetteville, AR, Joe Harvey (Andrea) of Bryant, AR, Shane Phillips (Jennifer) of Ward, AR, Heather Amaden (Mike) of Rolling Fork, MS; nine great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.
