Jimmie Sue Rotenberry

of Yellville, AR

February 27, 1932 - October 23, 2019

Jimmie Sue Rotenberry, age 87, of Yellville, Arkansas and formerly of the Georges Creek community, passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2019 in Mountain Home.

Jimmie Sue was born February 27, 1932 in Yellville, Arkansas to the late Virgil and Dalia (Cline) Burleson. Jimmie Sue Burleson graduated from Yellville-Summit High School (YSHS) in 1949. Soon after graduating, she answered the national call that there were jobs in Washington D.C., and soon found herself as a secretary for the FBI and recalls meeting J. Edgar Hoover in the hallways from time to time. Sue met her future husband, Wilbur, around this time and they were married in 1955. Wilbur was in the Air Force and she had to get used to moving around from base to base. Their son, Mike, was born in 1961 while they were stationed at Shaw Air Force Base in Sumter, South Carolina. From there the family would move to Tokyo, Japan (where Sue was the secretary for the American high school), then to Lompoc, California where Wilbur would retire after 21 years of service. At this point, the family moved to Wilbur's home state of Virginia (Fairfax and Manassas). Sue was the general manager of a complex of Townhouses in Manassas. In 1974, Sue moved the family back to her hometown of Yellville. Sue would first work for Larry Evans of Evans Realty and then went on to be the secretary at the School of New Hope. Her son, Mike, would end up graduating YSHS exactly 30 years after she did in 1979.

Sue was a very active member of Cedar Grove Methodist Church. She was well known and liked by all the community. Sue was very supportive of family and would alternate hosting the annual Thanksgiving or Christmas meals each year for all the extended family in the area. Sue loved being a wife to Wilbur, a mother to Mike, and a grandma to Max and Gentry, and would buy them season passes to Silver Dollar City every year. Jimmie Sue looked for the good in people, and had only kind things to say about everybody she knew.

She is survived by her son Mike Rotenberry and his wife, Gina, of Yellville, Arkansas; two grandchildren: Max Rotenberry and Gentry Cooper and her husband, Zac all of Yellville; two nephews: Dennis Rotenberry and Rick Rotenberry; and three nieces: LaDonna Fotenopulos, Pattii Williams, and Brenda Holder.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wilbur, and her brother ''Foots'' Burleson.
