Charles A. Hinkle died Friday September 13, 2019 in Little Rock, Arkansas. The youngest son of Hubert and Beulah Kendrick Hinkle, Charles was born in Ophir, Oregon May 27, 1931, where his Dad was working in the timber forests.

Charles grew up in Mountain View, Arkansas and was a 1949 graduate of Mountain View High School. He was serving in the United States Air Force in Alaska when he came home on leave to marry Hattie Marie Bearden, the Mountain View High School Home Economics teacher from Evening Shade, Arkansas. They were married in Mountain View, March 1954. After he was discharged, Charles and Hattie moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where he was employed by American Airlines, before beginning a long time career in the telecommunications industry.
He began working for ITT Kellogg Corporation, selling telephone equipment. They later moved to Harrison where he was regional manager for Alltel Telephone Company. In 1973, he began working for Northern Telecom Corporation and due to his obvious love of meeting people; he quickly became the corporation's top salesman.

Although telecommunications was his profession, he never lost his passion for aviation, owning several airplanes throughout the years, including a floatplane on Lake Ft. Gibson in Oklahoma. He served as a member of the Mountain View airport commission and most recently, was a member of the committee that published a history of aviation in Stone County.

Charles was preceded in death by his first wife Hattie, his parents and his two brothers, Glen and Kebel. Charles married Earlene Dearien October 30, 1996, and they enjoyed years of retirement together. He is survived by Earlene, his son Dr. Mike Hinkle, (Becky) Tulsa, Oklahoma; Grandchildren Dr. Roth (Virginia) Hinkle, Southlake, Texas; Gant, (Alison) Hinkle, Tulsa, Oklahoma; and Tara (Cameron) Taylor, New York, New York, and his great grandchildren Audrey and Charlotte Hinkle, Southlake Texas. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Markay Dearien, Renay Behar, and Marvin (Michelle) Dearien, all of Central Arkansas, and step grandchildren, Justin Mitchell, and Matthew, Mason, and Michael Dearien.

Charles was a member of First United Methodist Church, Maumelle, Arkansas.

Visitation will begin at noon September 21, at First United Methodist Church, Mountain View, with the service following at 2 p.m.

Pallbearers are Dr. Roth Hinkle, Gant Hinkle, Cameron Taylor, Shane Henry, Kenneth Sutton, Whit Fowlkes, Roy Montgomery, and Joel Breeding.

Honorary pallbearers are Jim Hinkle, George Hinkle, E.A. Wallace, Vic Setser, Jim Caudell, Shirl Williams, Dr. Norman Hinkle, Mike Wyatt, and Roger Parsons.
