Owen Henry James, 89, of Higginson passed away September 13, 2019. He was born March 26, 1930 in Puxico, Missouri to the late Ottis Elvin and Effie Mae Rice James. He was also preceded in death by his two brothers, Walter L. and Ira E. James.

As a baby, Owen moved with his parents from Missouri to Tennessee for a brief time to work on the dairy farm and soon moved on to the place he would call home. At the age of two his family settled in White County Arkansas where he grew up and in 1950 he met the love of his life. Owen and Margie were married on May 26, 1954. Mr. James served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1954. After the war Owen not only farmed, but he worked in the timber industry and was Housekeeping Supervisor for Porter Rogers Hospital and Central Arkansas General Hospital. Mr. James was a member of the General Baptist Church, but attended with Margie and their children at the Methodist Church. His most favorite thing to do was to spend time with his family and friends.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife Margie ; their children, Patsy (Gary) Britton, Terry James, both of Higginson, Owen (Tammy) James of McAlister, OK, Teresa (Jerry) Liles, Patricia (Jim) Jones, both of Searcy, Lisa (Eric) Harrington of Wichita Falls, TX and Brian (Lennie) James of Green Forest, AR ; eleven grandchildren, Nathan James, John (Leanna) Britton, Amanda (Joe) Washburn, Danna (Josh) Hendricks, Justin Liles, Jennifer (Corey Wilson) Baldwin, Taylor Jones, Joshua James, Samuel (Cristina Rose) James, James Harrington, Chelsea (Paul) Stephens ; twelve great-grandchildren, Dixie and Makenna Britton, Jason Baldwin, Eliza and Madeleine James, Halle, Bryn, Gracie and Andrew Stephens, Hudson, Hadleigh and Hollis Hendricks along with a host of other loving family members and friends.

Services will be Monday, September 16, 2019 at Dogwood Methodist Church in Griffithville with Visitation at 10:00AM and Funeral to begin at 11:00AM. Interment will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice, 410 North Apple, Searcy. All services are under the direction of Roller-Daniel Funeral Home.
