Lela Mae Payne Rushing Daniels

Lela Mae Payne Rushing Daniels, 104, of Damascus, Arkansas went to her Heavenly home on Saturday, March 10, 2018. She was born on April 6, 1913 in Bee Branch, Arkansas to the late Jackson and Ida Payne. She married Joseph Blake Rushing on November 1, 1930 and he passed away in 1988 and then she later married, Lodell Daniels, who also preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a son, Blake Winford Rushing; grandson, Gordon Wayne Pryor; three brothers, Raymond Payne, James Payne, and Junior Payne; and two sisters, Verlie Wood and Lily Duncan.

Lela was a homemaker. For many years she lived in Rushing, Arkansas, where she was the Assistant Postmaster with her husband, Blake, and also helped run the Rushing General Store. She always wanted to be a teacher, so she taught at Bible School, Youth Camp, and Sunday school. She met with friends for Bible study on Tuesday nights. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Damascus, Arkansas. She always witnessed for the Lord and loved everybody. She was a member of several choirs, sang in a quartet, and attended singing conventions regularly. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, quilting, and laughing.

She is survived by her sister, Wilma Ward of Irvine, California; brother, Gearl Payne (Mary) of Bee Branch, Arkansas; two daughters, Frieda Pryor (Frank) of Damascus, Arkansas and Rozell Lewis of Morton, Illinois; six grandchildren, Cheryl Fraim (Don) of Tremont, Illinois, Joe Stubbs (Diane) of Manito, Illinois, Dwight Stubbs of Pekin, Illinois, Sandra Doggett (Stanley) of Conway, Arkansas, Russell Pryor of North Carolina, and Kirk Pryor (Debbie) of Clinton, Arkansas; two step grandchildren, Todd Lewis and Stephanie Lewis of Marquette Heights, Illinois; ten great-grandchildren, Shad Fraim (Brandy) of Tremont, Illinois, Anna Kidd (Travis) of Morton, Illinois, Jesse Fraim (Tiffany) of Morton, Illinois, Tim Fraim (Blaire) of Florianopolis, Brazil, Amanda Durflinger (Brad) of Morton, Illinois, Blake Stubbs of Champagne, Illinois, Marshall Pryor (Christina) of Conway, Tyler Pryor ( Erika) of Morrilton, Arkansas, Caleb Pryor of Conway, and Josh Pryor of Jonesboro, Arkansas; eleven great-great-grandchildren; special friend, Ernestine Clark; several step great-grandchildren; and many other friends and family.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Greenbrier, Arkansas. Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at Southside Baptist Church in Damascus, Arkansas. Interment will be at Rushing Cemetery in Rushing, Arkansas at 1:30 p.m.
