Danny Burleson

July 4, 1943 - October 30, 2017

Danny Burleson was introduced as Heaven's "brand newest member" on October 30, 2017.

Danny married the love of his life, Mary Anne Stroud on August 1, 1965. He raised three daughters who loved him dearly: Kim, Kari and Kristin. He considered his sons-in-law, Tim and Robert, as his own. He was the very best Papa and "Pardno" to Jackson, Mary Kathryn, Sarah, Matthew and Jonathan. He was Uncle Bull to many nieces and nephews. He loved his family unconditionally. He was their great protector, their comforter, their rock.

In his younger years, Danny excelled at every sport he tried: baseball, basketball, and golf. He was awarded a college basketball scholarship, he was invited to pitch for a major league baseball team, and he hit more than one hole in one. He loved the game, the competition, and especially the winning.

All of Danny's adult life was spent ministering to others-whether to his church families, Sixth and Izard, Highland Oaks, Chenal Valley and Windsong Church of Christ or to his community in numerous ways including as a chaplain of the Arkansas State Police (badge #007) and a supporter of Arkansas Children's Hospital.

Danny was also a great friend to many. He never met a stranger. He knew how to connect with people of all walks of life. He was a natural born story teller, a jokester and he knew how to work a room. He was one of a kind.

Danny Delbert Burleson was born in England, Arkansas on July 4, 1943. He is proceeded in death by his parents, Delbert and Edith, and his sister, Carolyn. He is survived by his wife, Mary Anne; his daughters: Kim Burleson of Little Rock, Kari and Robert Wicker of Greenville, MS, and Kristin and Tim Wood of Cheyenne, WY; his grandchildren, Jackson and Jonathan Wood and Mary Kathryn, Sarah and Matthew Wicker; his brother and sister-in-law, Russell and Betty Burleson of Little Rock and many nieces and nephews.

Danny was known for loving acts of kindness. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you honor his memory by buying a stranger a meal, high five/thumb wrestle a child, make someone laugh, give someone a hug...and always remember to tell your family you love them.
